Bedroom Makeover 101

The bedroom is a very important part of your home. It’s your haven, and you’d likely do most of your personal things in here. Most of all, it’s here where you're going to sleep. You want to have a place where you can relax completely and feel the coziness of the atmosphere. If your bedroom is definitely not like this, then it’s high time that you think about bedroom remodeling. It doesn’t have to be too expensive for you. Hey, you don’t even have to hire a professional interior designer for that. What you need to do is to keep in mind the following suggestions:

1. Invite light into your home. Light creates an illusion of bigger space, and provides you with a sense of calmness. The best way to have it is to open your windows in the morning to allow sunshine in. However, come noon or afternoon, you may like to close the curtains a little bit to avoid having the rays of the sun destroy your need to sleep. At night, choose your lights well. They should give just enough amount of light for you to read a book and see your surroundings. Two beside lamps will definitely do the trick.

2. Change your mattress. There are times when the pain in your neck and back is not caused by exhaustion. You’re simply sleeping in the wrong mattress. Generally, you need a bed that’s comfortable to sleep in. There should be no protruding springs and that the fillings should not already be coming out. It shouldn’t be torn either. If you think that your bed is already dilapidated, don’t try to fix it. Rather, buy a new one and invest on something that can last for as long as 7 years. It can be quite pricey, but it’s going to be worth it.

3. Make sure the bed’s size is what you need. When you’re sleeping with a partner, then definitely, a single-size bed is not the right fixture in your bedroom. You should go larger, perhaps a double-size or queen-size bed. You should always keep in mind one rule when it comes to your bedroom: go for comfort. You will never be able to equate it with dollars and other monetary amounts.

4. Get rid of clutter. If you can’t stay in your bedroom longer than 5 minutes, or if it’s the last place you want to be in at the end of the day, then you’re in deep trouble. You have to look around and perhaps try to put some organization. There’s huge chance that the clutter is beginning to look like an eye sore. You can add shoe cabinet for all your footwear. You can also include a hamper in your bathroom or at the corner of your bedroom, so all your dirty clothes don’t end up on the floor or on your bed. Moreover, you can add wall-mounted cabinets and shelves if you love to read magazines and books at night.

5. Add some good scents in your bedroom. This is not really a necessary addition to your bedroom. But if you like to be stimulated or you want to feel truly relaxed and at peace inside your room, you may want to add scented candles. They are very cheap nowadays and come in different smells and shapes. They do not only add more natural light into your room, but they can also make you feel good once you’re inside.
